Well Done!

Thanks for doing what I have often been tempted to do in the face of these and similar nonsensical behaviors!

Bravo!

Thank-you for the humour, the memories, and the perfect message!

I used to be one of those programmers

Its so quick and easy to write code to do exactly what you want and its even easier and faster if you assume that everyone will know exactly what to put in and TFB if it is bad input; I don't have the time to write a routine to parse and interpret your input, get it right the first time! If you get an error message you don't understand then you don't deserve to be using my program - go back to playing Pong. And BTW: I also never documented either, my programs were self documenting. After all, who needs docummentation for a perfect program that has no bugs of any kind and will never need updating or changing.

I'm not a programmer any longer but after graduating from Hamburger U. I can say "Would you like fries with that" in 5 languages. (Next week I get to do the drive thru)

Ditto Bravo.

Finding the largest prime number or demonstrating that there is no largest prime.

You made my morning, thank you!

Standing ovation!

You hit this dead on! I am really tired of BADVERB interfaces, with questions just like you describe. I have taken to filling in sarcastic or sardonic commentary.

Well Done!

Mich:

I can just hear you doing this with a Monty Python accent. You'll have them howling at MSIA residency next year with this story!

In true Monty Python fashion

My favorite is a question that asks you to check the box next to all the conditions or situations that apply. The survey provides, say, 5 or 6 different responses, none of which applies to your particular situation. So you leave the question blank then go onto the next question, finish filling out the survey, then click the SUBMIT button. For this, your reward is, "You didn't answer question 8. A response is required before you can submit your survey." Great, you at least checked my answers but, because of poor survey design, I can't answer one or more of the questions properly.

For those of you designing Q&As or survey, take care about the questions you ask and the responses you allow. That you caught an omitted answer is fine; that you didn't allow an answer you didn't want is directing and poor survey technique.

terrible response

Your response to his questions are terrible, and rarely funny...

Do you think this helps?
