Thinking of buying the Iphone 3G for your Business, don’t!! At least not yet, Apple has problems with Outlook

Thinking of buying the Iphone 3G for your Business, don’t!! At least not yet, Apple has problems with Outlook For some reason, appointments added in the iPhone are "hidden" in the day/week/month view of Outlook. If you switch to an "all appointments" view, they are there. A similar problem is occurring with appointments added directly to Outlook disappearing once the time has passed after you have sync your iPhone. Same thing - they are hidden from the normal calendar view, but are in the "all appointments" view. This is on my personal outlook, I am not sure if this is a problem with enterprise users. That would not be good is it is.

Apple would not even tell me they had a problem, but I found out the hard way after getting my new phone sync with my outlook, went on a small trip and had to look at my iPhone for appointment info from day before and they were all gone, then gone from my laptop outlook until I found them under all appointments.

I called Apple, no help, called the Apple store, no help, called AT&T store, no help. I tried the tech articles on the apple web site, no help or fix, tried different solution on Apple blogs, no help or fix. Some people say that this is a problem with the new version of iTunes, some say not.

All I know is Apple needs to fix this problem with Outlook; I cannot wait for the next problem I will find. Guess it might be back to Verizon and Windows Mobile.

Please post if you are having this issue with personal, smb or enterprise outlooks and have found a fix for the problem. Maybe we can all help Apple since they know nothing of this issue.

Same Problem

I have had this problem too. Tried every view option under outlook but still appointments only show under all events or active events.

Don't even buy the phone at all?????

Don't buy the Iphone at all... simply because some people use Outlook... and it has a few problems????

You better convince everyone of the MILLIONS of non-outlook users to return their iPhones for a refund.

This was discussed at length in the thread about returning the iPhone after 6 days that was written in the MS Subnet. The problem is limited to local sync only (doesn't apply to Exchange users). It isn't effecting all local Outlook users, and also occurs with Blackberry and ActiveSync users from time to time (that sync locally).

Your title is a little misleading, as "for business" might imply and Exchange server environment, which doesn't have the problem you report.

Here is what we did.

After setting up outlook to work in our Exchange Server in the lab, it does the same thing when you do a local sync to your computer. If you turn the sync off on the local computer and work the iphone over the air to your exchange it works better, but I still lost two appointments.

This is a terrible article.

This is a terrible article. So YOU had a problem with Outlook that is no reason for the business community to not buy iPhones.

Or, maybe it serves you right for using Outlook at all...

It was a good article to inform business of the problem

Always have to love the hatters that have nothing good to say then wont put there names on it. His article was right to inform businesses of the issue before they buy an iphone for business use. Go back to your blackberry and shut up.

"Or, maybe it serves you right for using Outlook at all..."

Um, yeah, like 75% of the business world does. Think before you post, Anon. This is a HUGE issue. Do not downplay or ridicule his concern because you are a teeny, tiny, MAC fan boy.

I've been using the new

I've been using the new iPhone for two weeks in a business setting with zero problems. Being a business, I do not manual sync- exchange/enterprise. Misleading article. I've used a blackberry for the las four years and this blows it out of the water! iPhone wins.

Actually, I found the article to be pretty accurate. I have the exact same problems as the author. While this may not be enough to deter some buyers (and perhaps shouldn't), it is extremely useful information to have.
