Cisco resellers take on Brocade/Foundry union

Not that they would say otherwise, but the Cisco resellers cited in ChannelWeb's story about the impending Brocade/Foundry wedding said they were not afraid of the union. Raphe Reeves, vice president of Cisco operations at Norcross, Ga. ProSys, told ChannelWeb that it would be "12 to 18 months before Brocade/Foundry gets to the point where customers will see them on a level playing field with Cisco." The issues faced by Brocade and Foundry would be how to bring the two product lines together and much of an upgrade would be necessary for customers to take advantage of the fruits of the union.

Other issues raised by the Cisco resellers cited in the story include:

* Brocade's channel partners are focused on storage and Foundry has few channel partners as it has been focused on direct sales.

* Though Brocade has muscle in the storage world, the same can't be said of Foundry in the networking world, when compared with Cisco.
