Financial pundit Sean Udall may think networking is now a two-horse race between Juniper and Cisco, but a rejuvenated Enterasys is hoping to get a piece of the action. It is being combined with Siemens'
Enterprise Communications group to create a $5 billion firm with more than 1 million customers, 15,000 employees and a presence in 80 countries, writes Network World's Jim Duffy. Enterasys made no bones about a desire to grow significantly -- $1 billion in revenue had been mentioned -- in order to better compete with Ethernet switch market leader Cisco and new entrant Juniper, according to Jim's story. Enterasys CEO Mike Fabiaschi says the deal puts his company as the No. 3 or 4 player in VoIP.

SEN and Enterasys
..this shoudl make things interesting in the market. However what about the relationship that SEN has with HP Procurve? In any case lets hope that this new venture brings innovation and real cost savings to the end user.....
Gores not Enterays
The title of this article is a bit misleading. The agreement is between gores and Siemens with the plan being to combine Siemens,Enterasys, and SER (contac center outbound) into a JV. According to the press conference there are plans for further strategic acquisitions. Siemens retaining a 49%ownerhsip is indicative of the level of influense they wish to retain. In addition, I think Enterasys is just one of 3 companies in this play and not necessarily the key. The ombination is a good one and should prove to be a competitive force.
Enterprises Beware
There're lots of questions for anyone considering SEC solutions.
