Here's a preview of the ballyhooed Mythbusters moon-landing hoax episode

By Paul McNamara on Thu, 08/07/08 - 8:54am.

As I type this we're a bit over 12 hours from blastoff for a new season of Mythbusters, set for 9 tonight. We'll have to wait three more weeks, however, for what will be one of the myth-busting gang's most eagerly awaited episodes: puncturing the fairy tale that the moon landings were faked, as in filmed in a studio.

When I first heard that the famous and mighty Mythbusters were going to take on this particular piece of tired hokum on Aug. 27, I frankly thought it beneath them ... as in way, way beneath them. After all, believing that the moon landings were faked is akin to believing that the government has for 50 years successfully suppressed physical evidence of alien beings visiting Earth -- and regular readers know what I think about that fantastic voyage into the world of the impossible.

But I need to cut Adam and Jamie a little slack here. After all, they are producing a television program that does not exactly aspire to be a documentary (tonight, for example, they're taking on "exploding meat" and "don't drive angry") and there is no doubt this moon-landing silliness will prove tremendously entertaining.

And they're certainly pulling out all the props, as you can see in this YouTube clip above that shows the guys preparing their model lunar surface and a wicked cool lunar lander. (Bad Astronomy blogger Phil Plait, who knows the guys and has consulted with them on the moon landing hoax episode, wrote last night that he would give Jamie "a million bajillion dollars for your lander model."

Not sure I'd pay a million bajillion, but as you'll see in the video, it is truly a work of art. (At least one of my sons would pay a million bajillion.)

Of course, if the set and the lander are too convincing, maybe and the whole thing looks too real ... nah.

Ironic

I find it deeply ironic that your Youtube/IE article says, "Any attempt on my part to view a YouTube video in IE this morning is greeted by normal audio, an almost pitch-black picture and this message: "We're sorry, this video is no longer available."" in my RSS reader, but...

"You are not authorized to access this page."

in Firefox. :)

It's amazing - I agree with you!

Ironically after your exceedingly poor piece on UFOs and aliens that you proudly link to above, I find myself agreeing with you here - of *course* we went to the moon. Why? Because fully verified black project insiders from the Disclosure Project, and others over the years, say so, and moon landing debunkers claims don't stand up, although some scenes over the course of all moon landings were hoaxed or duplicated, and much "scrubbing" of images was done. While yourself, the idiot Bad Astronomer and the sycophantic, smarmy champion-shills Mythbusters usually come out with arrogant nonsense based on zero facts and pure lies (as you all claim the people you are debunking do), for once you've got it right. But your piece on UFOs/aliens was devoid of logic, and scared of facing facts, and I note that your arguments got rightly torn apart in the comments section. I for one would pay very good money indeed to see the look all your faces when, as will soon happen according to reports and insider testimony, the truth of ET visits is revealed to the world. I only hope you are either a paid shill who actually knows the truth, or don't end up in a loony bin due to having your fiercely held worldview disintegrated by our ET chums.

LUNAR LANDING HOAX ON MITHBUSTERS VIDEO

0

I have seen the episode of MITHBUSTERS on lunar landing hoax, and they convinced me 100 % that the americans were on the moon. There is no doubt of it ,they were on the moon, there its a sure fact. BUT......I have seen another video that convinced me 100% also that all it was a monumental hoax..... And i wonder where is the truth, because the videos convinced me 100 percent of total different truths. I started doing my own 'home work' if i can say so and i discovered indeed many annomalies. How painfull that may be THERE IS SOLID EVIDENCE OF THE HOAX,or that somebody want us to believe that all was a hoax. Aniway, one can not just take a side on what he believes is the truth ,he must do his own home work and only then make a choice. Moon manned landings were the greatest achievement of men kind in this century and what a sad world knowing that all was HOLLYWOOD. there are some that say that 400000 workers of the space program must been on know of the hoax and they shut up. and that is not possible that all were conspirators. Indeed it is not possible, they were not conspirators, they were proud people of a proud country in the making of history-the american know-how of science in triumph. Is it possible that they too were mislead? that they were not told that all is fake? The future will surely bring the truth whatever it will be.
