Cisco has taken its eye off the edge and HP ProCurve is picking up Cisco customers by offering lower-cost edge switches, according to channel partners cited in this ChannelWeb story. As Cisco busies itself with getting into new technology areas ProCurve is ready to step in the gaps Cisco is leaving wide open. ChannelWeb quotes Steve Larson, director of sales at Plymouth, Minn.-based Cisco partner Enventis as saying that over the last year, ProCurve has made inroads into bigger companies.
ChannelWeb also cites figures from Dell'Oro Group which found ProCurve growing its worldwide port shipments by 28.4% in the first quarter compared to the same quarter a year ago, while the rest of the networking industry grew by 7.82%.
