So much for the steaming pile of 'openess' which is spewed by the Linux community. Isn't it supposed to be 'secure' because like a bagillion eyes are on the source? Oh wait. Is is finally that Linus admits that 'open source' is not the panacea they have been pushing?

You are mistaken
Quit putting linux on such a high pedestal. Linux is more secure than osx and microshaft. But, even still, all software has security weaknesses. Quit being the first to poke the finger of blame because you don't understand what you're talking about.
Clueless
You're absolutely clueless.
First off, you can, in this very second, grab the entire linux kernel and browse for yourself, can't get anymore open than that. Not sure why that's not open. You can also report any problems you find (well, not you but someone else who would know how to find/report such problems).
Second, as one who runs both Linux and Windows servers I can tell you Linux wins hands down in security and my sleep value. I literally wake from my sleep at least once a week to an alert on one of our Windows servers. Linux? Total sleep and relaxation, no worries.

What an idiot. I used to think he was brilliant. Now I realize he is drinknig his own coolaid

OpenBSD: 10 years without any security holes in the base installation :))
And 10 years with no
And 10 years with no developments - Well Done!
Totally agree with him!
I wish there were more people in IT who were like Linus. He is just pointing at the king with no clothes!
IT should be about making things easier, but the BSD monkeys and the 'security experts' are determined to keep it as complex as they can to enhance their own sense of worth!
Securtiy Departments
I agree whole heartily with Linus. So much of the secrity crap that comes down to us is self serving to for the security people of our company. Then someone higher up decides to get involed and there you go, the monkies amusing themselves again for the benifit of felling good(I have added value to this situation).
Security Circus
Nice going, Linus. Apparently you're the chief clown in the security circus.
Volvo is the safest car but....
Look at volvo. It is probably the safest car on earth. The manufacturer would like to imply that everyone on earth need a Volvo to be safe.
The truth is a huge percentage of the world population are ok with any other brands as long as it pass a certain security standard.
Super safe car with bullet proof glasses and bullet proof body, is for a very niche market, e.g superstars, head of states etc.
Hence security morons like BSD also have its own niche. Hence let them busy with their own world trying to capture the 0.0001% of worldwide market.
Linus may have a point, but...
Dan Kaminsky is my hero!
