A long abandoned psychiatric center for children that has become a popular place to record videos for YouTube could soon be torn down by authorities.
Built in 1955 and closed in 1992, the Gaebler Children's Center in Waltham, Mass., the dark and dank building has been the target of extensive vandalism and trespassing. Because of its ominous past and eerie environment, the building has been extensively used as a popular site to record videos that have found thousands of hits on YouTube. Many Internet Websites are also dedicated to the building and its history.
No doubt fueling the YouTube videos was the fact that the center was featured on the now defunct TV show "The Scariest Places on Earth."
Authorities seem to have grown tired of the building's nefarious attraction and are looking to clear the way for its demolition sometime within the next year, local reports indicate.
