If you're waiting for the day when Cisco is the only name to be seen on Linksys boxes, this snippet from
the Orange County Business Journal will interest you. While Linksys is identified as "a division of Cisco" on the packaging, this will change to "Linksys by Cisco" with "Cisco" getting the same sized lettering in coming years, reports the newspaper. The snippet is from OCBJ's interview with Linksys senior VP and general manager Michael Pocock, who took over the reins two years ago from Linksys co-founders Victor and Janie Tsao.
Pocock acknowledges that Linksys in the United States is a very strong brand and that the company wouldn't "do anything crazy there." Global expansion is on the horizon though as Cisco's goal for its home networking division is to have half of its sales coming from overseas, according to OCBJ. Currently, some 35% of Linksys' sales is from abroad.
