Jimmy Ray Purser: Networking Geek to Geek

Who is this Dude?

Who is the Jimmy Ray Purser goober and why is he blogging? That is what Network World asked Cisco, but I slipped this one past 'um! My name is Jimmy Ray Purser and I am a field engineer. When I am not translating the CCIE training series into to Klingon, I sit behind the console, work until 3am, get woke up in the middle of the night, paid speeding tickets like a teenager eats Tic Tacs and have been burnt by many vendor promises to networking nirvana. I could not love a job more then I do this one!!!!

In this blog I will focus on the things I wish I would have known 10 minutes before I needed them. I believe the secret to networking is passing on what you have learned and designing networks like you would be the next administrator of that network. I will share tips, tricks and products I have tested in a unbiased manner. I work for Cisco, but I will focus on all products and not just Cisco only.

I certainly hope you will also share your tips with me also. I love networking almost as much as fried chicken! and always look forward to learning new stuff.

**Shameless Plug Time**

Please also check out Cisco's TechWiseTV! I co-host this with the venerable Robb Boyd. http://www.cisco.com/go/interact I look forward to blogging with y'all!

Respectfully

Jimmy Ray Purser

Jimmy Ray used to work for HP before he left for Cisco. HP has not had a good field engineer since. He used to speak over here often and is the best. Always our most requested speaker. He is does not drink the corp cool aid. Honest and intelligent, I look forward to reading more of Jimmy Ray

I wonder if this guy ever sleeps? He also writes a column for bmighty.com on network security. Out of all the bloggers and writers out there today, Jimmy Ray is the most approachable. Send him an email and he will respond back, see him out and he will buy you a beer, offer ideas for a show and he listens, puts them in and gives you credit. We need more bloggers and engineers as down to earth and real as Jimmy Ray Purser

Dude - this is awesome!!!
