Last week's DEMOFall soiree in San Diego was touted by conference host Chris Shipley as all about the "distributed Web." And while a number of demonstrators that fell into this category, there were also a few security demonstrators with some cool technology to show off.
My favorite of the bunch was Usable Security Systems' UsableLogin, a browser plug-in system for creating and managing secure passwords for all the Web sites you log into. I talked with company founder and CEO Rachna Dhamija about the technology:
Usable Security Systems' stage demonstration video can be found here.
Another interesting product (and amusing demonstration) came from the guys at Maverick Mobile Solutions. They've got a unique way of keeping your mobile device and its data secure when lost or stolen:
CoreTrace took the award for "beefiest" demonstration with their demo of Bounder, a new anti-virus system that relies on application whitelisting:
Fortressware is offering data leak prevention technology for the small/medium sized business with its Personal Fortress product:
Finally, a promising looking technology that was launched by an underwhelming multi-part skuit: Unity Solutions' Lanxoma is like a Closed-Circuit TV system for your data network. It lets companies monitor activity and limit access to systems on a time or user basis.
