Forbes’ Mary Jane Irwin reports on the rise of netbooks, also known as mini notebooks or ultra-mobile PCs, from such companies as Asus, Dell and HP. She describes the netbooks as shrunken models of full-featured laptops, complete with traditional (but mini) keyboard layouts. Screen size is 8.9 inches. With some models costing as little as $250, the piece discusses, some people consider these potentially disposal wares as a convenience – but not as a replacement for a main computer.
