Plantronics is sick of the term telecommuter, first coined in 1973 (according to Plantronics), so it wants some help in coming up with a new term.
The company, which makes office and mobile phone headsets and other audio devices, is offering a prize package worth more than $1,700 (including an iPod touch) for submissions of a term "that really reflects today's always-connected-but-not-always-in-the-office worker". The company says that today, telecommuting is more than just replacing a daily commute with telecommunication, so a new term is needed.
Submit your entries at this Web site. You can probably do better than my favorite term at the moment, "teledrone".
If you can also come up with a term that replaces "road warrior", let me know. I'd like to replace that one.
