Real CCIE's, Real People 2008 Scholarship

For the second time this year, CCIE training provider Internetwork Expert is offering both U.S. and International CCIE scholarships.

The entry details below are taken from Internetwork Expert's Web site:

Each scholarship recipient will receive CCIE Lab training from start to finish including:
1. Internetwork Expert End-to-End Program.
2. Complete CCIE Rack Rental package.
3. Onsite Bootcamp of the recipients choice (including airfare, hotel, provisions, and ground transportation).
Eligibility Requirements
1. Ability to travel.
2. CCIE Written exam passed or scheduled.
How To Apply

Step 1. Complete the online application. All applications must be submitted by 11:59PM (PDT) Wednesday, December 31, 2008.

Step 2. In addition to completing the online application, you are required to submit an application letter. Application letters should contain background information (in regards to networking) and personal reasons for applying for the scholarship. Suggestions include:

1. 400-800 word (2800-5600 character) count.
2. Answer questions such as:
Why you need to be a CCIE?
What circumstances kept you from training?
What strengths would you bring as CCIE to the field?
Where you started in networking and where you are now?

Step 3. All finalists will have phone interviews with representatives from the Internetwork Expert Selection Committee. Scholarship recipients will be selected from the finalists. Finalists will be notified and announced in January 2009.

News regarding the recipients of this year's earlier CCIE scholarships:

According to Brian McGahan CCIE #8593 (R&S/SP/Security) at Internetwork Expert, the recipients of the CCIE scholarships earlier this year were a U.S. Army Officer and a 21-year old student from Angola. Since the recipients were selected only last August, it's still a bit too early to gauge progress, as earning the CCIE certification is usually at least a 6-8 month process at best.

Additionally, 4 scholarship finalists received full Internetwork Expert End-to-End Programs. They were from Bangladesh, Israel, Scotland and the USA.

Furthermore, 3 individuals received honorable mentions that provided free access to upcoming Internetwork Expert CCIE Routing & Switching Online Classes and significant IE discounts. Those recipients were from Canada, Senegal and the USA.
