The busy winter conference season is upon us once again, promising a dizzying array of product annoucements, IP telephony news, and presentations and discussions that will continue to revolutionize the convergence industry.
VoiceCon 2008 kicked off in San Francisco today, featuring keynotes by executives from Avaya, Microsoft, IBM, and Kaiser Permanente. Many other breakout tracks and programs are also available, including sessions that are UC and contact center focused. The merging of IPT and SOA seems to be another hit topic at VoiceCon this year as well. For more information on the events happening at VoiceCon, visit the conference website.
Coming up in February 2009, Internet Telephony Expo East will be held in Miami Beach, FL, and will feature a great open-source track, Digium Asterisk World, in addition to the 4G Wireless Evolution event. More details are quickly appearing on the conference site for IT Expo East as well.
While I'm unfortunately not able to attend VoiceCon, I'm tenatively schedule to speak at IT Expo, which I'll have more information on at a later date. These conferences are always an excellent way to network with other IPT "peers", companies, executives, and analysts like myself.
As the week continues, I'll be sure to update you on any exciting events and/or news coming from VoiceCon. If you're at the event and see something blog-worthy, please feel free to leave a comment or send me a note. Happy conferencing!
