Cisco continues to combine technology and sports for a winning public relations onslaught. During a press conference held over TelePresence on Friday, NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson declared his love for Cisco's videoconferencing technology, which he said will save his company, the Magic Johnson Foundation, "millions of dollars and millions of man hours" over time.
The Magic Johnson Foundation oversees employees in 22 states and 91 cities with coffee shops, restaurants, fitness centers and charitable enterprises. Cisco has outfitted Magic's home and company with TelePresence equipment plus other desktop videoconferencing tools. While Magic sat and talked in Los Angeles, sports and tech reporters from Boston and New York listened and asked questions ranging from the role of technology in his business to the state of today's NBA.
Last week, Cisco made news regarding its contract win to outfit Yankee Stadium with next-generation IP video technology.
