Brad Cooper - CCIE #13747 Voice, a Canadian citizen and 8-year Cisco employee working as a VoIP Architect at Cisco's Research Triangle Park, N.C. campus under an H-1B Visa, has been arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of his wife - Nancy Cooper, also a Canadian citizen.

If convicted of first-degree murder, Cooper faces either the death penalty or a life in prison sentence without the possibility of parole. As CCIE #13747 Voice, Cooper earned more than $100,000 last year and has been on paid leave.

Cooper is being held in jail without bond (view the order for Cooper's arrest). He remains a Cisco employee.

Brad CooperOfficial Cisco Statement as of November 25th, 2008:

"For privacy reasons, Cisco's general policy is to not comment on individual personnel matters.

"However, we can confirm that Brad Cooper is currently a Cisco employee and that the company is currently reviewing his employee status in light of the pending criminal charges against him."

View a video shot back in July 2008, two weeks after the body of Nancy Cooper was found. In the video, police searched Brad Cooper's office in Cisco's Research Triangle Park campus (view sealed search warrant for Cooper's Cisco office).

View the timeline of Nancy Cooper's murder.

Read Brad Cooper's affidavit where he provides details about his job at Cisco, his wife Nancy Cooper's supposedly out-of-control spending, both his and his wife's extramarital affairs, along with many other personal details, including his activities during the day his wife disappeared.

Read the custody order for Brad Cooper's 2 daughters in which Nancy Cooper's family state their belief that Brad Cooper is responsible for the murder of Nancy Cooper, the mother of the 2 girls.

View 10 revealing videos of Brad Cooper's 7-hour long child custody deposition:

Video 1 - Brad Cooper answers questions about problems in his marriage, including an affair he admits to having several years ago (at the 10:40 time mark, Cooper discusses his "indiscretion" in the master bedroom closet of his home).

Video 2 - Brad Cooper talks about friends, how he and his wife met and his job at Cisco (at the 27:45 time mark, Cooper begins to discuss his job working at Cisco by naming his coworkers as well as the names of the supervisors that he reports to directly at Cisco. Amazingly, towards the end of the video Cooper discusses having sex with the former wife of a Cisco coworker).

Video 3 - Brad Cooper talks about undergoing a mental exam. There is also discussion of finances and who had access to what accounts (astonishingly, at the start of this video Cooper again discusses his sexual relationship with the former wife of a Cisco coworker and how his wife Nancy Cooper learned of that sexual relationship).

Video 4 - Brad Cooper answers questions about bank accounts, credit card debt and disagreements over purchases (at the 17:00 time mark, Cooper discusses his Cisco base salary of $112,000 per year and a bonus of $25-$30,000 from Cisco that he received in September 2008 - 2 months after his wife Nancy Cooper was murdered).

Video 5 - Brad Cooper talks about a draft separation agreement with his wife that he considered to be unfair (also, a Judge is called on the speaker phone to discuss why Cooper has not responded to a police request to come down and make a formal statement at the police station).

Video 6 - Brad Cooper talks about his efforts to clean the home after Nancy Cooper became upset that he had not done enough cleaning around the house.

Video 7 - Brad Cooper discusses custody arrangements he and his wife Nancy Cooper were making regarding their two children. He also talks about what happened the night before his wife Nancy disappeared.

Video 8 - Brad Cooper talks about his schedule while in graduate school and the day prior to his wife Nancy Cooper's disappearance.

Video 9 - Brad Cooper says he hired a private investigator.

Video 10 - Brad Cooper answers final follow-up questions.

Brad Cooper's ex-fiancee questions the "truthfulness" of Cooper's child custody video deposition.

The child custody depositions concluded with Cooper being denied custody of his 2 daughters in a very rare decision, based almost entirely on the belief that Cooper was responsible for his wife's murder.

Finally, view the video of Brad Cooper's indictment for the murder of his wife - Nancy Cooper.

Update:

Cisco has confirmed that Brad Cooper has resigned from Cisco Systems.

THis post is distastful

0

Brad,

I have enjoyed most of your blog posts here but I have to say I think this kinda crosses a line. This is distasteful and what does this guys job have to do with him being charged for killing his wife. Anyway I feel this really has nothing to do with technology and should be left for places like "The Inquire" and not network world. If his company keeps him on the payroll thats fine you are innocent till proven guilty in this country and if he has the leave good for him.

my 2 cents,

John H.

Agree with you John

Agree with you John, this story is extremely distasteful.

The order for Brad Cooper's arrest on the charge of first-degree murder of his wife Nancy Cooper was issued on October 27th, 2008.

Cooper Arrest Order

Yesterday, November 25th 2008, Cisco confirmed to yours truly that Brad Cooper is still a Cisco employee, a month after being charged with first-degree murder.

In my humble opinion, a man held in jail without bond on a charge of first-degree murder should not be on the payroll of a publicly listed company.

Cisco Code of Conduct

5th PDF page, 1st paragraph, last sentence:

At Cisco, we will not tolerate anything less than clearly ethical behavior.

Yours truly finds it interesting that Carlos Carnevali was terminated by Cisco a year ago:

FIRED Thanksgiving Day: Carlos Carnevali pioneer developer of Cisco's Latin America success terminated

However, alleged first-degree murderer Brad Cooper remains a Cisco employee a month after the Arrest Order was issued.

Sincerely,

Brad Reese

Have you nothing better to write about?

0

I don't endorse criminal activity of this kind, but who gives you the right to expose someone's personal life on this site? Why not have some decency and write about something that people who visit networkworld.com care about. The fact that you would study this to such a degree that you have - and collect links, videos, and more - shows that you have no human decency, and I hope you sir have some embarassing aspect of your life broadcast over the Internet one day.

An embarassing aspect of someone's personal life?

0

Leaving the strangled corpse of a spouse to rot in a drainage pond is considered an embarassing aspect of someone's personal life?

In a video and news article that appeared on September 3rd 2008, police revealed that they were suspicious of Brad Cooper:

Husband's Computer Searched in Nancy Cooper Case

On October 2nd 2008, a month after police revealed that they were suspicious of Brad Cooper, he gave a 7-hour long video-taped child custody deposition:

At the 45:00 minute time mark of the video, Brad Cooper detailed the lengths that Cisco HR went to accommodate Cooper's continued employment with Cisco.

You claim that I went too far to "study" this situation with information that is in the public domain and therefore have "no human decency."

Meanwhile, Cisco has had all this information for sometime now and they did what with it?

Sincerely,

Brad Reese

Tasteless.............

This is just filler. Brad obviously has nothing better to do with his time. I would love to see someone post the initmate details of his personal life and call out his shortcomings. This individual is innocent until proven guilty. The post wouldn't have been so offensive if the individual had been convicted for murder.

Yes even Cisco employees can commit illegal acts even those whom are CCIEs. Why would Cisco terminate his employment if he hasn't been convicted of anything. Give me a freakin break!

There is something seriously wrong with your logic Brad!

Clarification

0

Flame,

Perhaps you can provide clarification regarding Cisco's official statement to yours truly:

"We can confirm that Brad Cooper is currently a Cisco employee and that the company is currently reviewing his employee status in light of the pending criminal charges against him."

Does "reviewing his employee status in light of the pending criminal charges against him" mean that Cisco will terminate Cooper's employment status at Cisco prior to a conviction on a first-degree murder charge?

What is Cisco's official policy?

It appears former top Cisco executive Carlos Carnevali was terminated prior to a conviction in a court of law, do you agree?

In conclusion, based on Cisco's official statement to yours truly, it appears that Cisco may in fact terminate Brad Cooper's employment with Cisco prior to any conviction in a court of law for first-degree murder.

Sincerely,

Brad Reese

Brad, is this TrueTV?

0

Brad, is this TrueTV? Digging into the lurid details of this crime and providing links to where in the video he admits to sexual encounters has no place in this publication. It has no absolutley no relation to networking technology at all. Your defence that it relates to Cisco ethics is worthless. Carlos Carnevali was terminated for crimes committed in his capacity as a Cisco emplyee. This man's crimes were outside the scope of his employment, and have no relation to his work at Cisco. Shame on you.

Another worthless Reese post

0

Brad,
Last time I checked, this is still America. You are innocent until proven guilty.

It seems that you want your name synonymous with Cisco; yet, you trash the company and its products every chance you get.

If only you would be this thorough on your columns about technology. Such a column might actually have some merit.

Your comments have defined your character, and the very same comments should get you tossed from any association with NetworkWorld.

Exactly what specific comments?

0

George,

Exactly what specific comments should get me tossed from any association with NetworkWorld?

Please be specific, thanks!

Agree that you are innocent until proven guilty.

However, where is the "internal investigation" by Cisco?

At the 45:00 minute time mark of the video, Brad Cooper detailed the lengths that Cisco HR went to accommodate Cooper's continued employment with Cisco.

Why has Cisco made these accommodations for Brad Cooper?

Sincerely,

Brad Reese
http://www.BradReese.Com

"Why has Cisco made these accommodations for Brad Cooper?"

0

Do you not get that he legally hasn't been convicted of any crime as of yet?

How difficult is that to understand?
