HP ProCurve switched layer 2 through layer 7 port shipments grow 4 times industry rate

The Hewlett-Packard Company will announce today that according to the Dell’Oro Group Q3'08 Switched Ethernet Report December 2008, its HP ProCurve networking division grew worldwide switched Layer 2 through Layer 7 port shipments by 25.8% in the third calendar quarter of 2008 compared to the same period in 2007. The industry growth rate for this period was only 6.6%.

"In our current economic climate, customers are looking even more closely at their IT investments and are choosing HP ProCurve," said Marius Haas - Senior Vice President and General Manager of HP ProCurve.

"This latest Dell’Oro report reflects the growing number of customers – from small offices to global enterprises – who are choosing HP ProCurve to adapt their networks to meet changing business requirements."

Hewlett-Packard also added that Dell’Oro Group data revealed HP ProCurve’s worldwide revenue grew at a higher rate than the rest of the market, accelerating 14.1%, compared to the industry average of only 4.5%.

Furthermore, HP ProCurve’s Power over Ethernet (PoE) worldwide shipments grew a whopping 51.7% year-over-year compared to market growth of only 13.7%.
