Working at the former BOC since divestiture and through the Qwest fiasco, the current executives would like nothing better to happen than to be acquired by one of the others. The problem Qwest has is the debt incurred during the Nachio regime. They sold off the one profitable line of business they had (with the Yellow pages) to keep from declaring bankruptcy. Qwest doesn't have its own wireless service and is currently looking to Verizon (by recently rejecting Sprint). For its video product line it is using DirecTV. Qwest does have broadband and may be their only strength if you consider it as such. Land lines continue to go the way of the "horse and buggy". It may come down to a bidding war but I think an acquistition will eventually occur. It may come by way of need by AT&T or Verizon for a new market area or it may be the result of Qwest not being able to service its existing customer base.
