Perhaps popular Valentine's Day consumer gift items like the Reese's Peanut Butter Heart will be taking back seats this year to a much more exciting gift, why? Because it appears Cisco is unleashing a Valentine's Day gift marketing blitz, according to a report by Ira Pumfkin over at Tech Edge Weekly.
Even Cisco global media manager - John Earnhardt is blogging about it:
"Cisco Idea for Valentine’s Day;
Whitman’s Sampler (or See’s)? 1-800-Flowers (or FTD)? Tiffany’s (Kay)? Day at the spa? What should you get your sweetie for Valentine’s Day?"Pumfkin is often portrayed as a buffoon who badgers Cisco CEO John Chambers, see photo below:

Fortunately, Ira Pumfkin found the following video of a commercial that Cisco appears to have shot for an upcoming marketing blitz.
New Cisco Valentine's Day Gift Commercial:
Has Cisco's complex organizational structure of councils, boards and working groups taken the concept of new market adjacencies too far? Will The Hershey Company meet the same fate as previous competitors at the hands of Cisco's awesome marketing juggernaut?
Don't be shy, are you going to treat your sweetheart to a Valentine's Day gift from Cisco?

Perhaps a good bundle?
You bring up a good point, Brad -- shipping Reese's Peanut Butter Hearts with an ASR 9000 could be a particularly compelling seasonal bundle... Let me work that idea back with the product team, but until then, thanks for the post!
Doug -- Cisco
There's Just No Wrong Way to Bundle and Ship an ASR 9000
Doug, goes to show you that:

Ha, ASR9000 is more like a one night stand than a girlfriend
The ASR9000 remains a marketing announcement - no supervisor or module information is yet available. Where is the meat ?
So, not so much a "keeper", more like a one night stand.
No wonder they're laying people off
I'd love to be able to blow the money Cisco does on frivolous marketing campaigns...
Thats why Cisco share droped so much
Cisco share value droped rapidly yesterday...maybe they try to "rise it up" again ?
Big sucker for Reese’s peanut butter hearts
Yours truly received the following web page link from a very, very famous candy industry luminary, Pat Magee, who keeps yours truly updated monthly on the candy business that my grandfather loved!

"I think my lovely wife already knew this but at the end of the week when I bug her to read this she is sure to bring me one.
"I am a lucky man.
"What treat tickles your ticker when your sweetie gives it to you?"

Always remember, there's no wrong way to eat a Reese's.

(Book) REESE'S Peanut Butter Cups: The Untold Story
If networking professionals really want to learn about how REESE'S Peanut Butter Cups came to be, they should buy the book that tells the whole story. It is available online for purchase at Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Borders, and Amazon. The Ingram Book Company, and Baker & Taylor distribute the book worldwide.
The brother of Brad Reese wrote the book. I am Brad’s brother and I have been a networking, information security, and computing industry for the past 30-years. Actually… I helped Brad get into the networking business. To learn more about my technical experience, visit my online biography web site, and in the bottom left-hand corner of the front page is a link to my published magazine articles and books: REESE'S Peanut Butter Cups: The Untold Story (http://www.ReeseWeb.com/).
We are holding the initial kick-off event for the book in Hershey, Pennsylvania, this coming Thursday, February 19th, at the First United Methodist Church, Corner of Linden Road and West Chocolate Avenue, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. We will have plenty of softcover and hardcover books on hand for signing. I will conduct a PowerPoint presentation with unpublished family photos of the candy's founder, H. B. Reese, and many Reese family members will be there to sign the books as well.
Sincerely,
Andrew R. Reese
