Cisco CEO John Chambers has joined the finance committee of Ex-eBay CEO Meg Whitman who is running for Governor of California in the 2010 election.
Both Chambers and Whitman were national co-chairs of the John McCain presidential campaign. Additonally, Chambers and Whitman were under consideration as potential Treasury Secretaries in a new McCain administration.
Oddly enough, a San Francisco Chronicle investigation of the Ex-eBay CEO points out that Whitman was a decline-to-state voter who did not cast ballots in some of California's most important elections until about 18 months ago. The Chronicle added that records from San Mateo County in California show she became a Republican in September 2007 and did not vote in more than half the federal, state and local elections since she registered to vote in the county in September 2002. Among the elections in which she failed to vote were the 2003 recall that ousted Democratic California Gov. Gray Davis - a watershed for the state's GOP - and the 2005 special election that Republican California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called the most important effort to reform California government in a generation.
A further surprise was the statement yesterday by John McCain's daughter - Meghan McCain in her blog post titled Why Republicans Don't Get the Internet: "Until the Republican party joins the twenty-first century and learns how to use the Internet, its members will keep getting older and the youth of America will just keep logging on to the other side." Quite a pronouncement given her father's election campaign national co-chairs were two of the Internet's most famous luminaries, John Chambers and Meg Whitman.
Also of interest is Whitman's goal to restore the California economy by creating 2 million new jobs by 2015. Unfortunately for California voters, Whitman does not specify whether she would like to see those new jobs filled by H-1B Visa holders or American citizens. Nonetheless, in the video below Whitman at least indicates she favors H-1B Visa holders for technology jobs.

Below is the current list of Whitman's campaign fundraisers which includes Cisco CEO John Chambers and many other Silicon Valley technology leaders.

Only if rich people would be allowed vote ...they hope
Chambers has still clueless about politics. He supported McCain .... no need to further comment needed on that and now ,
Whitman. He should stick to his current gig of squeezing more money from Cisco customers and partners.
John Chambers will run for President in 2012
It is my personal opinion that John Chambers will run for President in 2012.
Sincerely,
Brad Reese

John Chambers will run for President in 2012
He may run in 2012 but he would be the first or last clueless (as a politician) CEO to get stomped by the beltway assassins.
Don't underestimate John Chambers
Don't underestimate John Chambers or his political skills.
Sincerely,

Chambers chances
Brad,
His first two step into the political arena (that I am aware of) makes me very suspicious of his political acumen. His support of John McCain and of now, Whitman.Success in business that does not translate to success in presidential politics. The political environment would have to favor the Republicans(clueless in their current condition) and Chambers message be tailor made for
that political situation. One minor item, the competition is not Nortel, there is the issue of a fellow named Obama.
Thanks

A lot could happen in 3 years
Ian,
A lot could happen in 3 years.
Neither Obama nor Chambers are guaranteed success over the next 3 years.
Both could fall flat on their faces as well as both or only just one of them could succeed!
Time will tell.
Sincerely,
Brad Reese

Typcial Liberals
It's funny how the posting itself, and the comments, are all left of center. Are there any brains left out there?
Very sad.
Left of center liberal administrations
Are you saying that the left of center liberal administrations of both Bush and Schwarzenegger created the financial crisis?
Brainfully yours,
