The budget ax strikes - The Certification Testing Center is the latest casualty and will not be at TechEd this year. You will not be able to take any tests at TechEd at 50% off. In an effort to keep costs under control, the Certification Testing center was cut. I am sure this was not an easy decision to make, but all is not lost .
All attendees will get receive a test voucher for 50% a test in the future. Also, if you attend any certification session, you can get an upgraded voucher for a special coupon. This coupon allows you to take a test for only $25! Simply stop by the Microsoft Learning station in the Technical Learning Center or talk to one of the Microsoft Certified Trainers in the Community lounge.
While you can't test at TechEd, you can still get a voucher that saves even more than the test would have cost - so not a bad deal.

Sigh
I will miss the on site certification tests. I found them to be a key benefit of TechEd.
