Cisco's presence in the wireless products and services market was strengthened yesterday as new strategies were rolled out into its product portfolio. This recent news adds new features to its WebEx product suite, including the ability to arrange and schedule WebEx meetings through an iPhone application. In addition, new WLAN products, including the Cisco Wireless Controller 5500 series, the Aironet 1524 Mesh Access Point, and the Cisco 3310 Mobility Services Engine, among others.

In this press release, Cisco also announced new API integration possibilities, allowing third-party products and solutions to integrate with their product portfolio. "New applications are being announced for network assurance, PCI Compliance, and wireless video surveillance."

Cisco's strengthening hold on the wireless market is amplified by the merging of products such as WebEx into its overall solution offering. While many competing companies have performed similar acquisitions and integration methods to fuse their technologies, Cisco has streamlined this process significantly, allowing for easier and faster adoption by end users and organizations.

Competition is high, especially in the wireless and mobility services marketplace. Ease-of-adoption and deployment, as well as a diverse and innovative portfolio is what will continue to drive users toward Cisco's wireless and mobility solutions.

"Together, the transformational power of collaboration combined with the power of the network as the platform can enable businesses to thrive. Evolving modern businesses are comprised of workspaces that are rarely physically connected, and critical business information is collected and shared with mobile devices such as laptops and smart phones," said Ray Smets, vice president and general manager for the Cisco Wireless Networking Business Unit. "Cisco's approach with Collaboration in Motion harnesses the power of the network to connect the devices to the network, to people and to systems, to collaborate in a borderless organization."
