Here's an actual error message I got a few minutes ago. I'm not sure whether this should make me happy (at least they're being honest) or whether I should throw my computer out the window.
"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange computer is down for maintenance."

Hmmm, that's a familiar message ...
... therefore I vote for the Window! Not a good start to a Monday morning. Good luck!

Outlook error message is very specific (by Keith Shaw)
MS does it again, either a message with no usable information stating the obvious, or a menu - pick one from column A,B, or C! Outlook should open w/o issue and msgs should only occur during send/receive. I would assume (---.u&me)corruption of the outlook .pst files, or other anomoly, such as a corrupted profile. Go to Control Panel/mail and re-define the profile (look at it first to get the info, then delete and re-define). No success? Next open any OFFICE app, go to help and choose the "repair" option. The next step in exercising insanity is re-doing the profile one more time (and hope something changes).

Solution to MS Outlook Exchange Error Message
Thanks for directing me to the profile. I'm using MS Outlook 2007 and have always had this problem. Went into the profile and noticed that "Manually control connection state" was checked - changed this to "Automatically detect connection state" and everything is fine.
