Starwood Hotels, Tata, set up Cisco TelePresence rooms

Ten hotels to house public virtual conferencing spaces

Starwood Hotels plans to equip 10 of its properties with Cisco TelePresence rooms under a deal with service provider Tata Communications. The facilities will be open by the end of 2009 in the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers, Sheraton on the Park in Sydney, Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, The Westin Los Angeles Airport and W Chicago-City Center. 

A little later, Starwood plans to expand it to properties in Brussels, Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.

Tata says it has several operational public TelePresence rooms in India, the UK and in Boston in the US. The provider also recently announced an agreement to manage a public room in Manila.

AT&T also has an arrangement with Cisco to establish TelePresence services in 23 countries.
