A blogger reports that Cisco's Unified Computing System -- which includes the company's controversial blade server -- underwent first customer shipment last week. The blogger, Scott Lowe, also says Cisco has begun training customers and resellers on the new data center platform.
Lowe hopes to share much of his UCS training experience on his blog, blog.scottlowe.org. Already, he is sharing Day One experiences in UCS training and notes some nuances with the system's northbound FCoE interface.
Now that it is shipping (we think; Cisco did not immediately reply to an e-mail seeking confirmation) it will be interesting to chart the uptake of UCS. It is perhaps Cisco's most significant and disruptive product in many years.
