The latest word on 40G vs 100G by the Ethernet Alliance

September conference will discuss the future of each technology

By Jim Duffy on Thu, 08/20/09 - 5:15pm.

Posted by Cisco Subnet editor Julie Bort (Jim Duffy is on vacation): Yesterday, I wrote about how some analysts are saying 100G Ethernet is already overtaking the 40G market. This is contrary to the upgrade story we've been hearing from vendors that have backed 40G, Cisco among them. Today I received a nice invitation to come hear an update from the Ethernet Alliance on September 15 in Santa Clara, CA. The topic: 40G vs. 100G.

I won't be able to cover that conference, but would love to hear from readers who choose to attend. The speaker list consists of executives from Facebook, Google, Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX), Nanoelectronics Research Institute (NeRI), Lawrence Berkeley Labs, 3Com, Brocade, Broadcom,  Force10 Networks and Panduit, the organization says. It will cost you $125-$175. Here are the details. If you want to go, and would be interested in submitting a guest post about it, please drop me an e-mail, jbort@nww.com or send me a Tweet, @ciscosubnet.
