Hey, we all know that AT&T's 3G network is... well let's just say it leaves much to be desired. Dropped calls and an assortment of reception problems are unfortunately all too common for iPhone users, and frustration with AT&T seems to only increase with each passing month.
But who know that that frustration could lead to someone brandishing a gun and threatening to shoot an actual iPhone? Well such a thing happened this past Thursday at an Apple Store in Cincinnati.
According to reports, a frustrated iPhone owner recently walked into an Apple Store at the Kenwood Towne Center in Cincinnati, Ohio and complained to Apple employees that his iPhone wasn't working properly. The iPhone owner, whose name is Donald Goodrich, was apparently so seething with anger that he blurted out that he wanted to shoot a bullet through the device. According to the police report, Goodrich stated, "[I'm] so made I could pop a 9mm at it."
Now if only there were an app for that. All kidding aside, Goodrich wanted the good folks at the Apple Store to know just how mad and serious he was, and to get his message across more clearly, he lifted up his shirt to reveal a black 9mm handgun tucked into his pants.
Now here is where you might wanna give the man a brand new iPhone and send him on his way, but the employee Goodrich was talking to is apparently a lot more calm than most, and proceeded to take him over to the genius bar where she promised his phone woudl be taken care of.
The employee then went to the store manager and told him what happened. The police were subsequently called and Goodrich was charged with aggravated menacing and "causing fear of harm to an Apple employee."
So the question now becomes - will he plead the AT&T defense? It might sound crazy, but if the Judge is a frustrated iPhone owner him/herself, then he might get off easy! I'm kidding, of course, but you can certainly add this story to the increasingly long list of customers who have had a less than stellar experience with the iPhone and AT&T combo.
