Easy way to transfer cell phone contacts

By Keith Shaw on Wed, 02/22/06 - 2:49pm.

No, these are not sticks of deodorantIf your cell phone is old and you're dreading typing in all of your contacts into the new phone, you might want to cough up $40 for Spark Technology's CellStik device. The company said this week the devices are available in additional retail locations, including Fry's Electronics and J&R. The device and its CellStik Central application let users enter end edit cell phone contacts through a full-sized keyboard, not the smaller keys on a cell phone.

Users can easily save and update their cell phone contacts through the CellStik device and application, Spark Technology says. The device has a USB connection on one end that connects to the computer for the editing of the contacts. After editing, the user connects the opposite end to their cell phone and pushes a button to transfer the data to the cell phone. No cables are needed for the transfer to take place.

Current versions support Motorola, LG and Samsung cell phones, with other cell phone brands coming later in the year, Spark Technology says. In addition to the new retail locations, the company said it is available online at Amazon.com, Buy.com and eCost.com. More details are available at the Spark Technology Web site.
