Windows 7 finally went on sale this past Thursday, and critics have been calling it the most "Mac-Like" version of Windows yet. In other words, Microsft has learned something from the fiasco that surrounded the Vista launch and has delivered an operating system that people are actually excited about.
But you didn't expect that Apple would just take this lying down, would you?
On the contrary, Apple's Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller, recently said that the Windows 7 launch willl provide Apple with a great opportunity to aggressively market the Mac and actually increase Apple's marketshare. Specifically, Schiller pointed to the headaches inherent in upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7.
Any user that reads all those steps is probably going to freak out. If you have to go through all that, why not just buy a Mac?
And true to their word, Apple wasted no time in releasing a few anti-Windows 7 ads in the form of 3 brand new "Get a Mac" commercials which hit the air just a few hours after Windows 7 went on sale.
The first ad is called "Broken Promises" and is by far the best of the bunch. It pokes fun at the promises Microsoft is making with Windows 7 by comically pointing out a history of false promises from the good folks over at Microsoft.
The second ad is called "Teeter Totter" and features a Windows XP user opting to upgrade to a Mac instead of Windows 7. It's decent.
And last but not least, we have "PC News". This ad centers on a PC News TV show hosted by, you guessed it, the PC. Hijinks ensue.
to quote Steve Jobs
To quote Steve Jobs ... the OS wars are over and Microsoft won a long time ago.

I think this report should be dove-tailed with the Windows 7 student upgrade issue that occurred over the weekend!
