Apple's advertising is almost as iconic as the products themselves, and the man behind many of Apple's most famous ads is Lee Clow of TBWA Chiat\Day. Clow was the mastermind who came up with the slogan "Think Different", and helped co-create the entire award winning Think Different ad campaign which featured notable historical figures throughout history. Recently, word leaked out that Clow was resigning from his position as chief creative officer of the TBWA Media Arts Lab, which is essentially a special unit within TBWA which focuses on Apple related ads.
Word spread around the blogosphere quickly, but as if often the case, the reality was far from what was being reported. Despite an overwhelming number of reputable sites reporting of Clow's departure, Clow is in fact not going anywhere and issued a memo to his staff to clear up any resulting confusion. The note reads:
Hey Everyone:
So we tried to promote Duncan Milner because of the great job he's been doing leading the Media Arts Lab and look at how the blogosphere decided to make it a conversation about me.
As you all know, I'm here every day meddling in everything that goes on, pushing the creative on many brands including keeping an eye on Apple.
I remain Chairman of MAL, Global Creative Director of Media Arts and Chief Creative Officer of TBWA Worldwide.
I'm not going anywhere.
