Did Cisco learn from its press mistakes from the last Cisco Live event?

No press info found on 2010 Cisco Live page.

I received the e-mail below as a Cisco Partner, but I am wondering if Cisco will learn from its press mistakes from last year? You all remember when this was an invitation only event and the press did not get invited even if they were paying their own way to cover the event.

At this point, it looks like they may be giving a repeat performance. They currently have no press sign up on the Cisco Live web site at all, which takes place June 27- July 1, 2010 in Las Vegas. Although it might be too early to conclude that press will be excluded, it does make me wonder if they are telling all the press to stay away. So I called the Cisco Support number to get some help, no one could tell me what I needed. My editor, Julie Bort, contacted Cisco's public relations department and asked what the policy on press attendance would be and got no reply.

Maybe there is a super secret press sign up page that is only given out to the press people they like?

Cisco needs to start giving the press the same info that they give partners for events, being able to schedule the events in advance helps the press with budgets. Since the price of hotels and air flights are so high they should cut the press some slack and start to think about them a little more.

This whole virtual thing they are pushing on the press like they did last year just does not cut it. One of the reasons that the press expends money on travel budgets to attend live events is to talk to the users and attendees. When the press wants to attend, Cisco should not have an issue with this and do everything it can to make it easy for them to schedule plans for a Cisco event.
