Dell announced last week that it will OEM and embed QLogic’s 8100 Series Converged Network Adapters in its Dell PowerEdge rack, tower and rack-mounted servers. The Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) adapters will be integrated specifically into Dell’s Intel Xeon 5500 Nehalem processor-based PowerEdge R610 and R710 rack servers, T610 and T710 tower servers and M610 and M710 blade servers. QLogic QLE8152 will be provided in the Dell PowerEdge R410, R510, R610, R710, T610 and T710 servers and a custom-designed QME8142 dual-port mezzanine adapter will fit in Dell PowerEdge M600, M605, M610, M710, M805, M905 and M910 blade servers. The CNAs ship with driver support for Windows Server 2003, 2008, Red Hat Enterprise Linux AP 5.x, Novell SUSE Enterprise Linux Server 10.x and 11 operating systems and virtualization platforms, such as VMware ESX/ESXi 3.5, 4.0 and Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V.
