President Bush’s poll numbers have never been lower and he’s taking it on the chin regularly from every comedian and would-be comedian with a microphone – now even at normally apolitical technology conferences.
During his introduction of this morning’s keynote speaker, Cisco CEO John Chambers, Interop General Manager Lenny Heymann made note of the fact that Chambers has found himself at Bush’s side in a number of presidential photo ops in a number of different locales recently.
“I guess I show my colors here,” Heymann continues, “but when you’re sitting next to him, John, I have a lot more confidence in him.”
Maybe not a knee-slapper, but it drew respectable laughs, and perhaps more tellingly, not a hiss of support for the president.
Of course, Chambers’ Republican colors are no secret either, so you have to wonder if he found Heymann’s comment all that amusing.
