Next phase of Cisco's Borderless Networks coming up

Follow up to ISR G2 has switching at its core

By Jim Duffy on Fri, 03/12/10 - 4:38pm.

Next week, Cisco is unveiling the "next phase" of its Borderless Networks strategy. The first phase was launched last October with the introduction of the ISR G2 branch routers, which are optimized for video and virtual services.

This next phase focuses on "evolving the way that customers manage, scale, secure and govern their network," and has a large switching component, presumably for the campus (not data center). According to the PR pitch, it will include:

  • innovations in Cisco's switching portfolio and how they are relevant to the company's business
  • service-enabling solutions for video, energy management and trusted access
  • a competitive switching offer for the price-sensitive market segment
  • enhanced support and services

Any guesses?
