I'm pleased to announce our news. Network World has launched a new Subnet community, the Open Source Subnet. Open Source Subnet will showcase news and blogger opinions for enterprise users of open source software. As you may have noticed, with this addition, we have added three great new bloggers to the roster: Phil Odence, from Black Duck Software, a company that helps enterprises manage and secure their open source tools, is writing the Look to the Source blog. Alan Shimel, a serial entrepreneur who has founded several security software companies (such as StillSecure), is writing the Open Source Fact and Fiction blog, and Amy Vernon, a journalist and social media personality, is writing the Pragmatic Open Source blog. I'm in the act, too, penning the Open Source Subnet blog. You can subscribe to all of these blogs via one RSS feed and/or follow us on Twitter (@OSSubnet), or regularly visit the Open Source Subnet home page.
If you prefer headlines delivered to your inbox via e-mail, you can subscribe to our weekly Linux and Open Source news alert, too.
Indeed, launching the Open Source Subnet page gave us the opportunity to redesign the Cisco Subnet and Microsoft Subnet home pages as well. As you can see, the new pages shows off the massive number of articles Network World publishes on Cisco-related, Microsoft-related and Enterprise Open Source-related news. These includes Network World's news stories as well as news from our IDG sister sites (Computerworld, InfoWorld, CIO and CSO). The headline list also showcases product tests, newsletters and blogs from Network World and our sister sites. Visit our Subnet home pages daily to stay abreast of all the news.
Of course, the Subnets continue to star the Subnet's own bloggers -- the core members of our community who share their opinions and expertise on matters of interest to Cisco, Microsoft and Open Source users. (If you are interested in writing a blog for one of these Subnets, particularly the new Open Source Subnet, please contact me with your idea.)
So, tell me what you think? Do you like the redesign? What stories or topics would you like to see us cover?
