Musings of a technology middleman

By Alpha Doggs on Mon, 06/12/06 - 4:40pm.

I spoke recently with Utek CEO Cliff Gross, whose company is in the business of transferring technology from universities to small public companies on the prowl. Gross says that talk about basic research being dead is off base in that there is plenty of advances being made at university and other labs. The trick is exposing the technology to outfits that can make it available to the masses. Gross told me: "I think it's our trump suit as a country… our ability to create intellectual capital in every area of science, medicine and technology is a great strength that America offers other than democracy and capitalism."
