Tangent today announced its VITA 8000S system, an all-in-one PC that combines a computer and LCD monitor into one device. The new 8000S includes dual-core processors, improved video support and wireless LAN connectivity.
The 3.5-inch thick and 21 pound device combines a 17-inch LCD display with a slim chassis that is designed to fit ergonomically into a health care office, hospital room or a field environment, Tangent says. In addition to fitting on a desk, the VITA 8000S has several wall-mount support choices, including a vertical lift mount, the company adds.
Features include a choice of Intel Celeron D, Pentium 4 or Pentium D processors with dual cores, 802.11b/g wireless LAN support (with an embedded antenna), Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and an integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics accelerator. The system also includes built-in speakers, four USB 2.0 ports, two PCMCIA Type II slots (or one Type III slot), and support for legacy PS/2, serial and parallel ports. Memory support includes 512MB of RAM (upgradeable to 2GB) and up to 120GB of hard drive space. The system comes loaded with Windows XP Professional and costs about $1,495.
