PowerLinx, a St. Petersburg, Fla.-based company, today announced plans for a home entertainment accessory to allow users to connect speakers in any room without running wires to the source. Instead, audio would transmit over existing electrical lines within the home.
The company said it is "currently scheduling presentations to introduce pre-production samples to major retailers during July and August 2006," and that it also sent prototypes to two potential licensees last month. In addition to the accessory, PowerLinx says the technology ca be integrated into other consumer electronics products, including home entertainment systems and rear surround sound speakers (no need to run wires around the room).
