Vista's tardiness is a joke … literally

By Paul McNamara on Tue, 08/01/06 - 1:36pm.

Journalists enjoy each other's company because, well, we're just so gosh-darn amusing. Witness my Network World colleague John Fontana's bon mot uttered at a recent Microsoft event that featured cans of Microsoft Vista -- sparkling water wrapped in a novelty can commemorating the company's yet-to-be-delivered and oft-delayed operating system.

"Can I open it," Fontana asked when offered one, "or do I have to wait until January?"

Reuters reporter Eric Auchard couldn't resist reporting the dig, nor could Seattle P-I blogger Todd Bishop … which pretty much gave me no choice but to follow suit.

We slay ourselves sometimes.
