As a long time Macintosh user, this is something that has been well know within Mac circles for years. It is my assumption that IT only wanted WinTel machines because that meant job security.
Hopefully, this will open a few more eyes.

First guy is right
I've heard many times from IT that they don't want to learn anything other than what they're familiar with already, and I believe the implication that IT directors get paid based on the size of their staffs.
Oh, and I've owned a personal computer since 1978 and I've been a software systems developer/engineer since 1980...
