Linksys today announced availability of its new Wireless-G Pan/Tilt/Zoom Internet Camera with audio (model WVC200). Aimed at small business and small office, home office users, the camera can send live video and audio over the Internet and can be accessed through any Web browser. The camera, part of the Linksys Business Series of products, is now available for $299.99 through Linksys distribution, online resellers and VARs.
The WVC200 contains its own IP address, letting users connect to an existing Ethernet or Wireless network. An LCD screen on the front of the camera displays the IP address, allowing for multiple cameras to be managed, Linksys adds. Images from the camera can be protected by a password, or left open for the public. Dynamic DNS support allows access to the camera through a "name" URL, even with dynamic IP addressing, Linksys says.
The camera records images to MPEG-4 format, with 640 by 480 resolution, and MJPEG compression as well. Other features include 2x digital zoom, 10-user viewing, recording to a hard drive, and recording by motion trigger.
More details on the camera are available at this Linksys Web site [1].
