It does not do what it says, I bought this camcorder and used it on the beach 3 times, each time at snorkel depth and rinsing straight after with fresh water. Water got inside on the 3rd occasion despite all seals closed. Sanyo's warranty on its waterproof camera does not cover damage done by water getting inside!

CodySafe Admin pack and Launcher the admin toolset you carry with you...literally
Submitted by Ron Barrett on Thu, 11/19/09 - 2:10pm.
I have written the past about portable applications that Admins can carry with them.
I came across a new 'suite' of portable applications that are being touted as the Admins Swiss Army Knife, and for good reason.
The CodySafe Admin pack hosts 75 portable administrative tools into a single suite that installs onto a portable device and takes up less than 63MB of space. Within this tiny package are tools for handling all of the most common Admin tasks such as:
• Data Recovery
• Password Recovery
• Disk tools
• File & FTP managers
• Network Tools
• Security Read more

I would like to recommend expanding this article. Some of the Kodak printers have advertised that they have excellent printing costs. It would be interestin to see how they stack up.
DGard offers complete network management at an affordable price...the big dogs in Network Management better beware!

One of the things that have become a reality of our current economy is that IT needs to more with less. In some cases that means taking on more tasks within the network as well. IT departments that once were once extremely segmented are now finding that they have been contracted to minuscule sizes in some cases. Of course, some IT shops have always had that chief, cook and bottle washer scenario. In either case the only way to effectively manage a network (whether an SMB or Enterprise) is to have effective tools that help you to get the job done. Read more
Microsoft ups the cloud ante. Now will that dog hunt?

Microsoft's Ray Ozzie significantly blew past the basic Exchange, SharePoint and SQL database hosting services with the Azure announcements at PDC 2009 yesterday. Read more
In-memory cache speeds data access for multiple application scenarios.
Submitted by Mitchell Ashley on Fri, 11/13/09 - 10:35am.
Microsoft is achieving impressive performance gains with "Velocity", the code name for a new Microsoft data caching technology currently in Community Technical Preview. Velocity is a distributed in-memory application cache technology that combines in-memory data caches across multiple servers, appearing as one large data cache to data hungry applications.
By accessing data in Velocity data caches, expensive hits to the SQL database are avoided and application data is delivered with much less latency. Server CPU and disk resource consumption are also lowered. Read more
Take advantage of every opportunity to give back to the open source community
Submitted by Mitchell Ashley on Wed, 11/11/09 - 8:52am.
Using open source software in your product. Doesn't Microsoft know that bloggers, techno-dudes and everyone else is watch them like a hawk waiting for Microsoft to make a GPL license misstep? Friday blogger Rafael Rivera called Microsoft on the carpet accusing Redmond of lifting code from the ImageMaster project for use in a Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool (WUDT) for netbooks. Read more
When Cisco pays cash for an acquisition, in my opinion it's probably time to sell Cisco stock.
Submitted by Brad Reese on Wed, 11/11/09 - 1:04am.
Personally, I'm now convinced that owners of the companies Cisco acquires are highly informed about the future direction of Cisco stock.
And why do I believe that?
Well, it's my opinion that when the owners of a company Cisco is acquiring accept only cash, their demonstrating they have little faith in Cisco's stock appreciating.
I mean, investment bankers are advising the owners of these acquired companies, and heck, investment bankers are usually very "plugged in" as to the merits of when to buy and when to sell Cisco stock.
For example, when Cisco used its common stock to buy Linksys and Pure Digital, the owners of the selling companies did very well by accepting Cisco stock for their shares.
Thus the creation of my thesis:
Purchase Cisco stock when Cisco's using its common stock to make acquisitions.
Consider selling Cisco stock when Cisco's using its cash to make acquisitions! Read more
Can Microsoft pull off moving to the cloud without losing customers in the process?

TechEd's focus on Exchange 2010 this week is all about the efficiency gains through improved productivity, lower power consumption (thanks to Windows Server 2008 R2) and decreased storage costs of Exchange 2010. Thank the economy for the focus on efficiency gains. Upgrades like Exchange 2010 will get close budget scrutiny in 2010/2011 and for the remainder of this year. Read more

EcoFont is a step in the right direction. Not only ink is expensive, the printers do a great job spending it!
I recently found a software utility, PretonSaver Home, that "turns" every font to eco-font. It reduces ink consumption by up to 70% and provides excellent print quality.
I did not have to change the fonts I use or change the way I print. PretonSaver works in the background and very smartly optimizes the ink/toner used by my printers.
Try it for free. Download PretonSaver from halftheink.com (http://www.halftheink.com)

Microsoft lays off more employees while executives still rake in the dough.
Submitted by Mitchell Ashley on Fri, 11/06/09 - 8:34am.
Text message this morning from CNN: Unemployment hit 10.2% in October. Microsoft announced earlier this week another 800 employee layoffs to the 5,000 previously announced employee layoffs. If you look at Microsoft's financials you see why, a 14% revenue and 18% net income drop for the last reported quarter, on top of disappointing prior quarters. Read more

It's now a two horse race between the iPhone and Droid.
Submitted by Mitchell Ashley on Wed, 11/04/09 - 8:54am.
The Blackberry Bold is getting good attention but the mobile SmartPhone world has become a two horse race between the Apple iPhone and the Motorola/Google Droid. Even with the new Blackberry Storm 2 model, the Storm missed its window to be a serious contender against the iPhone (despite all my ill advised pro-Storm predictions). Read more

I have tried viewing this page on Firefox, Chrome and IE, and I don't see any list of products in a floating contents bar. Where can I find the reviews? Why is it so hard to put a link within the body of the article? (Which would be the more logical place to put it anyway.) Why have an article talking about the Best e-book readers, which offers the suggestion that it will tell you further information, but actually, doesn't and instead refers you to another article, which doesn't actually appear? I have had this problem before with Network World, and it is frustrating. Read more
