Best BlackBerry apps of 2009

Right then; how absolutely pathetic of an offering of the Best of 2009 for all of those hapless chaps who weren't smart enough to choose for themselves or convincing enough to compel their boss to get them a proper Smart Phone like the iPhone or Droid (or anything but a RIM or PALM job). PUN INTENDED! Thanks for confirming my logicI used in maing my Smart Phone decision.

Correction and comparison

Correction: the Droid"s screen resolution is actually 480 x 854. Not 480 x 584 as stated in the article.

Also, it looks like the article missed a few key points of comparison. There's likely more to consider than just the networks when comparing these two devices.

The iPhone syncs with iTunes, and acts as an iPod. That's pretty convenient for anyone who already uses iTunes to manage their music or podcasts.

Will netbooks actually support these features?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm under the impression that most netbook hardware wouldn't support multiple monitors, DVD playback, or XP Mode virtualization - regardless of the version of Windows 7 installed.

Has netbook hardware advanced more than I realized?

This is the worst review I've ever seen, written by an iPhone user who have not taken the proper time to acclimate and use the Droid.

For example, the Web and Internet deathmatch, the reviewer failed to mention the Droid superior screen, loading time, and just better at displaying webpages.

"The Droid's lack of multitouch capability really shows on the Web; maneuvering through Web pages is difficult, as you have to use zoom buttons, which means you scroll on your page, then jump to the bottom of the screen to click an onscreen zoom button, watch the page zoom and recenter, then scroll again.

Current coverage avoid major US cities

It is interesting that their current coverage (http://www.clearwire.com/store/service_areas.php) does not include major metro areas such as Boston, NY, Miami, Tampa Bay-St Pete, Dallas, Chicago, Denver, Mpls-St.Paul, Phoenix, LA, San Francisco. Richmond (VA), Seattle, and Stockton & Modesto in CA seem to be the biggest cities covered. Interesting.

The writer would have helped provide some details on where the roll-out will be of the '30 million' to receive next round of coverage.

Redefining Unified Communications - DiVitas Changes the Game

I noted a while ago that the future of enterprise communications is in social networking. It's easy to see why this should be: e-mail has become a vast wasteland of spam and other irritations, IM is increasingly in popularity among essentially all classes of enterprise users, and there's a fundamental requirement for file (and many other forms of) sharing within the closed-user-group paradigm.
Hehe I hate this kind of marketing articles that tend to justify the route to low cost and bigger margins, that are taking some wireless vendors. They just don't care about customer experience, it's true it doesn't make a big difference if you test just 1 AP and a couple of clients, but in an enterprise deployment with many APs and heavy clients density then it make a difference…
