Microsoft has hired Limelight Networks to help it boost the performance of its online services. The two also intend to jointly develop acceleration technologies, according to the companies. Limelight is a Web caching/streaming/acceleration service based in Tempe, Ariz., that competes with Akamai. The company said it will cross-license technology with Microsoft.
