Top 6 Cisco acquisitions of 2007; what it should buy in 2008

Cisco made 11 acquisitions this year culminating in 126 purchases since Cisco's birth. It made three more acquisitions than it did last year, when it spent a measly $256 million buying ho-hum technologies. This year was different, not only in the sheer dollar size of some acquisitions, but also because of the breadth of technologies it acquired.

Entrepreneur describes what it's like to be acquired by Cisco

Can you imagine what it must feel like to build your own company for five years and then have it bought by Cisco to become its 123rd acquisition?

Jason Kolb, CTO of call center maker Latigent, which Cisco Wednesday announced it would acquire, has written about the experience in his blog that usually about "technology/business/politics/life."

Kolb, along with Latigent CEO Chris Crosby will join Cisco after the acqusition closes - expected at the end of October. The value of the deal was not disclosed, but you can be sure that Kolb and Crosby were able to afford some nice champagne to celebrate their nuptials with Cisco.
