The New York Post ran a story today that said no one would step up to be on an alternative Yahoo board on Microsoft's behalf for fear of alienating Yahoo. The TechCrunch blog calls the story balderdash. TechCrunch says that an alternative board is in place, confirmed by a person who claims to be a member. Read more
Microsoft announced today that it is joining DataPortability.org - a group that professes to create tools to protect privacy as users move about the Internet. Ironically, the group also wants to help Web site owners and other vendors access and share more data about these same users as they move around. Those would on the surface seem to be opposing goals but dig a little deeper and you discover ... yup, they are indeed opposing goals. Read more
