Fixing a problem with Norton anti-virus software
By Adam Gaffin, NetworkWorld.com, 01/12/04
A reader reports some problems with Norton anti-virus updates from Jan. 7 and 8 - they froze up his Word and Excel. He writes:
"There are two workarounds, one provided by them, and the other developed by me. I deleted all the Norton stuff; programs, files, registry entries, temp files, etc. Now Word and Excel work fine."

I have just purchased my computer in december and it has already slowed down. my internet provider has told me that I may possibly have the my doom virus.
I have scaned with norton anti virus version 2002
it is not up for renewal until March 2004 we had a trial version installed when we purchased.
Do you have any suggestion what I need to do.
Thank You,

HI, I purchased Norton Antivirus and when I received it I scanned my computer only to find that I had a virus W32 CISSI.A@MM. Norton anti virus said it "could not repair this file" and asked me to delete it. Now everytime I log on I get the message that the file I deleted can't be found. How do I reinstall that file? Please help!

Yesterday, I kept getting error messages when trying to open Outlook Express. The only way I could open it was by going into Norton antivirus and disabling the incoming and outgoing scans. It then worked fine. The very same thing happened today. I am able to get and send email as long as I don't use antivirus scan, which defeats the purpose. What do I do?

Hi, I am using someone elses computer to email you about my problem.Their email address is brashorse53@msn.com. I just got my computer for Christmas and it had the Norton Anti Virus protector already installed on the new HP model #A305W which has the Windows XP.I had a Norton window come up the other day saying I had a virus called:Trojan.Bookmarker.E on my computer. I downloaded the Pandaware then scanned my whole computer and it said it found the virus and removed it so got back on line and clicked read report and Pandaware window dissappered. The Norton window won't leave so I scanned my computer again with Norton and my computer gets worse can't even use Norton now.It is like it has invected Norton Anti Virus too. There wasn't a backup disk for Norton Anti Virus when it was bought at the store. What can I do to get the virus off and computer back to normal. Please help me if you can!! Rhayanna

I purchased a new Dell Inspiron 9100 this week only to find numerous problems!
I have uninstalled & reinstalled Norton System. It will not install properly. The msconfig is missing a few items Norton states is needed. I am thinking of trashing Norton for good. Any ideas. thanks
