Network World podcasts

By Adam Gaffin, NetworkWorld.com, 01/10/05

For the past few months, our man Jason has been doing weekly interviews on networking technologies and issues. Now we've caught up to the cool kids and are podcasting Network World Radio. So grab your MP3 player, get some podcast-sync software and don't miss another interview. The feed's at www.nwfusion.com/podcasts/radio.xml.

For the curious: Jason had already been posting the interviews in MP3 format. Podcasts are really just RSS 2.0 feeds with enclosure tags, so we jury-rigged our Movable Type 2.6x with a new RSS 2.0 template - using some otherwise blank MT fields to fill in the stuff that version of MT doesn't support natively, such as the URL of the MP3. A bit clunky, and there are plug-ins that supposedly would make the process a bit easier (like, right now Jason has to do "ls -l" via telnet to find the size of the MP3 file of the week), but it's a start.

Let us know what you think!
