Inessential.com has a discussion on desktop apps that people "live" in. Personally, I can particularly relate to this one, because we use HomeSite all the time - I'd much rather use it to generate a letter (in HTML, which I then print out) than Word:
I'm on a team that develops web applications and I've found myself living in Macromedia's Homesite. I use it for everything, for taking notes, creating schedules, word processing as well as for coding since I've found (and written) various little scripts that allow me to compile a Java file from a button on its toolbar. Often I will open up some IDE like Project Builder or IntelliJ or Visual Studio when I need to debug a process or unit test a class - and then switch to Homesite to actually edit the file! Which seems crazy, but I find the app extremely comfortable. It's my worn-in shoe.Back to CompendiumAlthough, I think we need to spend some time apart. It's obvious that I'm missing some of the value that another IDE could provide. But what will I say to Homesite?
It's not you, dear, it's me. :)
